French evidentiality #

French has no grammatical evidentials: the conditional's reportative use (the journalistic conditional) is one of the best-known evidentiality strategies, a non-evidential category with an evidential extension, so the inventory is empty. WALS, counting the conditional as a grammatical reportative, codes the language as indirect-only.
